This is one of Australia’s most scenic foot races with an emphasis on fun for all the family. Mount Beauty Running Festival 2024 had 4 distances to choose from this year.
A hilly 18 kilometre trail run through some of the iconic bush tracks and river crossing in the area.
A 10.6km or (21.2 km for 2 lap option) or 3km flatter routes around the pondage & following the scenic Kiewa river.
The weather was fine but with a cool wind coming off the mountains which did get a dusting of snow.
VIC XC Ski Team was able to take out a number of the medals and was well represented with 8 young skiers, a couple of keen parents and several other XC skiers many of whom were former VicXC Team members back in the day.

Saturday afternoon's training session involved a rollerski skill & power session lead by former ski stars, Tim and Paul. The skate agility and sprint drills left may with aching muscles which was finished off with the traditionally highly competitive game of roller-netball.
That night everybody had a fantastic combined dinner followed by a step by step analysis of all the components for young skiers need to develop and become fast skiers.
Sunday was also a cool start with good weather and we hit the bike trail from Freeburge towards Harrietville. This was a great distance rollerski on one of the best, scenic routes for rollerskiing in the state. All athletes enjoyed the flowing easy terrain and clocked up a decent 30km+.
